Four Programs · Three Mandates
Each program tackles a specific barrier facing young Ghanaians — from land access and governance to peacebuilding and skills development. Select a program below to explore it.
Ghana's average farmer is 55 years old. Youth account for only 5% of the agricultural workforce. The Youth Farm Project is MYD's answer — a comprehensive model that addresses the three biggest barriers: lack of access to finance (37%), land (14%), and technical training (12%).
The YFP addresses all three simultaneously — through Climate-Smart Agriculture training, secured farmland per district, and integrated digital farm management tools.
The Meet-the-Mayor Youth Conference bridges the institutional gap between young citizens and local government — acknowledging youth not as subjects of policy, but as contributors to it.
100 delegates aged 18–35 engage directly with District Assembly Mayors. Thematic breakout sessions cover governance, peace and security, sexual health, entrepreneurship, and environmental protection. A formal Youth Manifesto is submitted as policy petition.
Breakout Themes
The Youth in Peace & Security (YPS) program empowers young Ghanaians to become active contributors to peacebuilding and community security — fulfilling MYD's Community Resilience mandate.
Key Milestone · October 2024
Youth Action Plan on Peace & Security Townhall held in Tamale ahead of Ghana's 2024 general elections — an inclusive platform for youth dialogue on peacebuilding.
#YouthForPeace Campaign
Digital and broadcast campaign across 2 radio stations and 1 TV station, promoting peace messages ahead of Ghana's 2024 elections.
The MYD Volunteer Program is critical to the organisation's entire mission. Our 150+ volunteers are the backbone of all program delivery — from facilitating workshops to running radio campaigns.
Regular engagement sessions in Tamale build volunteer capacity and serve as the recruitment pathway into the network. Volunteers both grow themselves and serve their communities.
